I am quite obsessed about (especially) my loved ones wearing a proper reflector at this, the darkest time of the year! A pretty alternative for a reflector band is a lace one. These have been crocheted with thin reflective thread and a 1.25 mm hook, then carefully ironed between two sheets of paper to straighten them out. Next I´m going to try knitting something with the thicker 1.5 mm band…

Tähän aikaan vuodesta aina toivon että kaikki ymmärtäisivät kiinnittää takkeihinsa kunnon heijastimet, varsinkin kun suurin osa talvitakeista on tummia! Tällaista ohutta heijastinlankaa käytetään useasti muiden lankojen seassa, mutta pelkästään siitä pienellä koukulla virkkaamalla saa koristeellisia pitsiheijastimia jotka voi ommella suoraan vaikkapa hihaan tai kaulukseen. Kannattaa valita malliksi joku suhteellisen tiheä kuvio niin että heijastinpintaa on riittävästi.
Nämä mallit on virkattu 1.25 mm koukulla yksinkertaisella langalla. Ne kannattaa silittää paperin välissä esim. villa-lämpötilalla niin ne suoristuvat ja jäähtyessään vähän kovettuvat.
Yhdestä 50 metrin lankarullasta tulee noin kolme heijastinta. Seuraavaksi aion kokeilla saisiko paksummasta heijastinnauhasta puikoilla neulomalla kauniita kuvioita.

Thanks 🙂 You’ll find reflective thread on online shops but also in most stores where they have a good selection of knitting yarns. I’ve bought a Coats brand, but in Finland Pirkanmaan Kotityö Oy sells a finnish made thread.
