I’m hoping to at least taste the cherries from our little cherry tree this summer. Just before they turn red I’ll hang these “tough nuts” for the birds to get used to and hope they’ll be tired of them by the time the real cherries ripen. This apparently works for strawberries too – just put some painted little pebbles in your strawberry field before they turn ripe. Birds can be very intelligent but I’m hoping they’ll be swindled by this one!
I used the beads from an old bracelet, threaded them onto some green linen thread and gave them two coats of bright red nail polish. They look pretty authentic to me!?

Yritän huiputtaa pihamme lintuja jättämään pienen kirsikkapuumme ensimmäisen sadon rauhaan. Ripustan näitä kynsilakalla tuunatuja vanhasta rannerenkaasta purettuja helmiä puuhun juuri ennen kuin kirsikat kypsyvät. Sama temppu tehoaa kuulemma mansikkamaallakin. Sijoittelemalla pieniä punaiseksi maalattuja kiviä sinne tänne linnut kyllästyvät nokkimaan niitä ennen mansikkasadon kypsymistä.
