Gingerbread Margaux

Introducing my gingerbread version from 2014 of one of the most iconic and recognizable Bordeaux wineries, Château Margaux, since I won’t be making a gingerbread house this year.

The back side of the building has a beautiful pair of curved stairs.

The front steps are guarded by sphinxes. One of mine has a rather damaged nose, like their role model in Giza 😉

The facade is well known for it’s i(c)onic columns.

Black sugar paste for the roof. Other details were made either of sugar paste or piping.

The black piping for the balustrades was very fragile so I had to leave out the decorative spikes from the roof and remake the long balcony railing out of sugar paste. For the windows and doors 144 white shutters were glued on.

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season. May the year 2023 bring solace and optimism to us all!
